I never knew of your fascination with Fonzie. I still think jumping the shark was epic.

I remember when my mom failed the dementia test. The neurologist turned to me and said “She scored 9 on a test that fails at 30. I’m recommending memory care.” Then she got up and walked out. A searing moment.

Your writing is poignant and beautiful Tom. I’m thinking of you and Laura tonight.

Well this was a rollercoaster of emotions. I’m sitting here looking at the window and seeing hoarfrost on all the greenery after reading your story and going back to when my grandmother was diagnosed with dementia and all that comes with that- for me it was the denial and avoidance from members in my family. It felt very lonely. You know just yesterday I was talking to a patients family remember and we were talking about navigating the whole higher level of care system and it is a maze! I wish we learned senior care in school or even a college course on navigating long term care for our loved ones…
